Nutrition
Nutrition plays an important part in all of our lives.
Defined, nutrition is………. Selecting high quality food and food ingredients
is important for optimum health. Foods rich in proteins, essential fatty
acids, vitamins and minerals are going to provide us much more of what our
bodies need to function properly. “You are what you eat!”
As is becoming popular in our own foods, trying to
avoid highly processed/preserved foods for our pets may enhance the quality
of their lives, and add years to their lives as well! Even the highest
quality of dog foods may still not be ideal, depending on the condition that
your pet has. Besides paying attention to the quality and quantity of foods
your pet eats, we may be able to help you do even better based on your pet’s
specific needs. Dr. Cardeccia has completed a Veterinary Food Therapy training
program through the Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine.
TCVM food therapy is the art and science of using selected food ingredients
and/or superior herbs to feed each individual based upon their inborn
tendencies, their age, their species, their geographic location, their
personality, and their current disharmony or disease process. Often selecting
the right ingredient-base for commercially prepared pet food, or better yet,
home cooking from specific ingredients will allow a vast improvement in many
chronic disease processes, such as cancer, arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease,
skin/ear infections, and behavior problems. For a consultation/diet formulation
