About Reiki
The word Reiki, pronounced “Ray-key,” is made of
two Japanese words – “Rei” which means “God’s wisdom
or higher power” and “Ki” which means “life force energy.
” So Reiki is actually “spiritually guided life force energy.”
Reiki is a Japanese holistic energy healing system that is noninvasive, yet
yields powerful results for the body, mind and spirit. It is based on the idea
that unseen life force energy flows through all of us and is what causes us to be
alive. If one’s life force energy is low, then we are more likely to get
sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and
healthy. The Reiki practitioner channels the life force energy by placing hands on
or near the animal’s body.
When using Reiki to heal, the practitioner facilitates the healing process by
allowing Reiki to flow in whatever amount is necessary. Reiki aims to remove
anything blocking the flow of life energy in a gentle and effective way, allowing
the life force energy to flow freely so the body can heal. Reiki is ideal for use
with animals, because its effectiveness does not depend upon physical contact. The
animal can control the treatment by accepting Reiki either hands-on, from a distance,
or a combination of the two.
Pets are wonderful receivers of Reiki. Treatments usually have a soothing effect
and many patients sleep quite comfortably during them. Reiki treats the whole animal
including body, mind, emotions and spirit creating many beneficial effects that
include relaxation, and feelings of peace, security and well-being.
Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of healing. Reiki can do no harm, even
when used by a novice practitioner. It always goes to the deepest source of the
problem, and always supports a path towards balance in the body. It has been effective
at treating virtually every known malady and always has a beneficial effect. Reiki
can offer relief from debilitating diseases, and expedite the healing process after
your pet has experienced a traumatic injury or undergone a surgical procedure.
